How fast does it Download?

Sandisk16gb30MBsWith the size of CF cards just going up and up and up, the download speeds tend to become more important. If you consider that we now regularly shoot on Compact Flash cards of 16gb and 32gb, that means quite a bit of data needs to be moved around at the end of a shooting day, and for some during a shoot.

olympus_tough_8010I have recently taken the Olympus uTough 8010 for an in-depth review session… Well… not really a review session, more like a month of intense use in Turkey.

We needed a camera that can take the knocks of traveling AND fit in your pocket AND take good pics AND survive my 20month old baby boy's first attempts at photography. We also needed something that can be our companion camera that actually takes decent pictures while traveling because there are some instances where  you just don't want to take out the big cameras or have time to (or are allowed to). There are plenty of cameras out there that fit that description pretty well, but one of them failed in the first "waterdunk" test… so I was not very positive when starting out…

Profoto D1 test shoot

small-previewRecently we had the opportunity to play around with the new Profoto D1 lights at Outdoorphoto. When I say "play around", I actually mean we quite pushed the lights to see where we can make them fail!

Unfortunately, this seemed to be a bit more difficult than originally anticipated, because the lights kept on performing flawlessly over the few hours that we were busy with them. granted, that is not really an in-depth test of the capabilities, but I think this first run at the lights (and there will be a few more in the coming months as we push them some more) was quite a workout and the results … well, they speak for themselves.
